Looking for a refresh without the hassle of moving in this housing market? Nothing beats a renovated room in your home, especially when that room is the center of the action: the kitchen. Senior designer Jill Worobec with Mosby Building Arts shares some of her tips for kitchen remodeling.

  • Where to Start: Think about what is absolutely necessary to remodel—“must-haves and needs”—versus other desires. And identify favorable style choices before beginning the process.
  • Rule of Thumb: Use the kitchen work triangle for proper placement of work stations. Pay special attention to the number of cooks who will be using  the kitchen, as well as walkway and elbow space.
  • Staying on Trend: Color (and color pops) are having a resurgence. Other popular trends include mixed metals, flush inset appliances, wood-paneled appliances, and black stainless steel.
  • Keeping it Classy: Looking to maintain a more timeless look? Consider stone countertops, unlacquered brass or chrome, and beautiful white tones on cabinets with a warm wood accent (depending on the specific home). Full-height stone backsplashes are also nice. And if you’re wanting to change it up with tile, ensure the style doesn’t overpower.
  • Think Like a Designer: Compile ideas and examples that are appealing, and then share them with a professional who can help develop an overall look for the new space.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary, Mosby Building Arts is ready to step up for any home remodeling project, from the kitchen to the bathroom to the bedroom. With a team of home designers, consultants, architects, and drafters ready to plan any remodel— and an entire construction team ready to build the project once the design is finished—the company is equipped to complete a project from start to finish. Consult with its designers for a brand-new look in no time. And when working with Mosby, get ready to experience white-glove customer service and expert craftsmanship.
