Purchasing a home while it’s under construction gives buyers a unique opportunity to customize the space—within a specific set of guidelines—before the home is complete. This five-bedroom home in Preston Hollow is just one example of a luxury property with room for customization. The home is currently under contract and will close when the property is complete, said listing agent Terri Cox with Allie Beth Allman & Associates.
Cox said that new construction homes provide buyers with a unique opportunity to customize the property throughout each phase of construction, especially if buyers get in before builders break ground.
“While they’re buying technically a spec home, effectively, it becomes a custom home,” Cox said.
This home at 6707 Pemberton Drive is 6,487 square feet with five bedrooms, six bathrooms and one half-bathroom. According to the listing, it’s the work of builder Fabian Hixson with H Constructors LLC (previously TTB Holding Group LLC). Construction began in the summer of 2021 and the property is scheduled for completion this April, Cox said.
According to the listing, the home will have a primary suite on the first level and the remaining four bedrooms on the second level—each with its own bathroom. There will also be a game room on the second level. One highlighted feature in the design (which is also visible in the renderings) is the outdoor entertaining area, with a pool and patio spaces.
Cox said that her best advice for buyers looking to purchase a new construction home is to assemble a team to help make design decisions. With a new construction home and the freedom to customize, the decisions can be overwhelming, she said. Cox said she would recommend buyers draw from the support of a realtor, a designer and the builder, so the project stays on track.
“It’s fun to buy a spec home that isn’t complete because you can participate, but sometimes that can be challenging because there are copious details,” Cox said. “Every piece of the puzzle affects the finished project.”
The home at 6707 Pemberton Drive is listed for $2,895,000. It is currently under contract.
