SALT LAKE Town, Utah (ABC4) – BYU football player Sione Veikoso has died in a tragic development incident, according to the school’s soccer method. He was 22.
Veikoso was reportedly traveling to house in Kailua, Hawai’i when the incident took spot Friday.
Veikoso was reportedly pronounced useless on the scene soon after crisis personnel cleared the rubble. The two other trapped adult men had been taken to the medical center in really serious but stable condition, though a third hurt person declined to be taken to a healthcare facility.
The 22-calendar year-previous was a 6’7″, 305-pound offensive lineman, and performed in one activity very last year as a redshirt freshman immediately after transferring from Arizona State about the summer.
He prepped at Kailua High College in Hawai’i, and later on served a whole-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Manaus, Brazil, from 2018-20.
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake presented his heartfelt condolences on Twitter Friday night soon after talking to Sione’s family members:
“We are particularly saddened to find out of the tragic demise of one of our brothers, Sione Veikoso. His passing is heartbreaking to all of us. We supply our deepest condolences and prayers to his family as we share in their grief. Our adore for you is eternally, Sione!”
The BYU football program also presented their condolences:
“On behalf of the full BYU Football household, our thoughts and prayers are with Sione’s relatives and good friends through this extremely hard time. Relaxation in Love Sione. God be with you till we satisfy all over again.”
